WW2 Luftwaffe M40 side cap, blue wool cap with the Luftwaffe eagle and cockade badge already sewn on by Richard Underwood Militaria.
This M40 Schiffchen cap is made from teh same quality blue wool that Richard Underwood Militaria (R.U.M.) Fliegerbluse tunics. The cap comes complete with the correct insignia sewn on the front which is two badges one is the cockade the other is the national insignia in this case the Luftwaffe eagle and swastika. The insignia on these caps are high quality reproductions and have been professionally and correctly sewn on.
The Schiffchen cap was first introduced in 1933 as a Fliegermutze (flyers cap) by the Deutscher Luftsportverband (DLV) which was the predecessor of the Luftwaffe. Although it was originally issued and called a Fleigermutze it was issued to all paratroopers. The Luftwaffe Schiffchen is most often referred to as the M40 field cap, or side cap.
